Part of having healthy relationships with people is that you will from time to time do things that they don’t like. That’s just the way the ball rolls. When you do that, the right thing for them to do is offer you some feedback.HOW TO ACCEPTCRITICISM A while ago, I listened to a podcast by Michale Hyatt that shared the following four disciplines that will help us accept criticism with grace.

  1. Listen without being defensive.
  2. Evaluate without shame. Don’t shame the person who gave you criticism. In addition to that, don’t shame yourself as well. Shaming yourself or the other person doesn’t help.
  3. Accept responsibility without blame. Don’t give any excuses for the behavior or blame the person giving the criticism.
  4. Change without delay. Take action immediately.
